OUR MISSION: "To meet the needs of young men of the Dallas County Youth Village and Medlock Residential Treatment Center by providing resources that will aid them in finding strength and determination to succeed and lead a productive life."
Youth Village Resources is dedicated to helping juvenile offenders, ages 10 to 17 years old, reach their law abiding potential and to diverting them from further involvement with the juvenile justice system. We are committed to putting positive outcomes within their reach and bolstering the success of the work done by the Dallas County Youth Village and Medlock programs.
Founded in 2001, Youth Village Resources of Dallas, formerly known as the Youth Village Foundation, is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization formed to benefit the residents of the Dallas County Youth Village in areas where Dallas County Juvenile Services is unable to fund or provide the necessary resources. In mid 2007, the Foundation was reorganized with a new board of directors, board chairman, officers and advisors. In addition, the first full time Executive Director was hired. As part of our reorganization we re-wrote our Mission statement to include the residents of the Medlock Youth Treatment Center to those we serve.
Youth Village Resources ("YVR") seeks grants and raises funds, including corporate donations, to help deserving youth experience healthy activities and aid them in getting vocational training and educational scholarships. We work with these young men while they are at the Youth Village and Medlock facilities and after they are released. Upon release, and as they come off of probation, we are able to continue to communicate with them and offer guidance and solutions. The funds we raise are used primarily for educational and vocational programs, the P.R.E.P. dog-training program, Project S.A.V.E. and Cafe' Momentum.
" It is absolutely our duty to stand up and vote for our youth. Our mantra of 'Youth First' is our vote in favor of youth. Our Department will continue every effort to provide the best services, education, programs, and alternatives to those youth who are referred to our system. The days of just warehousing youth is no longer an option, but focusing on evidenced-based programs with proven results, working in conjunction with the family, concentrating on advancements in education, utilizing community partnerships, and imparting restorative justice while maintaining community saftey is the quintessence of Dallas County Juvenile Services. Our Department votes for 'Youth First'."
